8 Good Brushing habits for 2021

Share
1. Change Your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months

Old is gold but not your tooth brush! It is highly recommended to replace your toothbrush every 3 to 4 months. Also, after you recover from an illness. Frayed and broken bristles do not clean effectively.

2. Brush for 2 mins twice a day!

You might like speed and thrill but not when you brush! Make sure you brush for at least two minutes twice a day to keep your teeth healthy. Try using a timer or hum your favorite tune to distract you.

3. Be gentle while brushing

You might have the strongest forearms and biceps but don’t use them on your teeth. Gentle brushing is all that’s needed to remove all the food particles and bacteria. Excessive pressure can damage your teeth and gums

4. Don’t brush right after eating

After eating or drinking especially any acidic stuff like soda, lemons, grapefruit wait for at least 60 minutes before you brush your teeth as it can damage the enamel of your teeth. You can drink water or chew sugar free gum in the meantime

5. Store your Brush properly

After brushing, store your brush upright in open air. Do not store them in closed containers where bacteria have more opportunity to grow

6. Always use a soft toothbrush

No pain No gain is not for your teeth! Using a tooth brush with hard bristles can cause damage to your gums and teeth over time

7. Use the Correct Brushing Technique

Some of you might like freestyle or even any style but when it comes to brushing using the wrong technique can lead to gum recession and damage to the teeth
Here is a simple technique for a thorough brush: First place your toothbrush at 45 -degree angle to the gums. Then gently move the brush back and forth in short strokes (One tooth wide). Then brush the outer, the inner and the chewing surfaces of the teeth. Lastly to clean the inner portion or surfaces of the front teeth, tilt the brush vertically and do up – and – down strokes.

8. Choose a brush that best fits you

There are so many brushes available in manual or electric power. All the reputed brands do a good job in cleaning your teeth. Electric brushes are easier to use as it does some of the work for you and some also have a timer to help you. But remember it’s not really the brush that matters, its more to do with the brusher on how healthy you can maintain your teeth!
