The Joyful Smiles campaign took place in the GEMS Bradenton Preparatory Academy. The events ran over four days and involved doctors from Dr. Joy Dental Clinic visiting the school and conducting oral examinations. Each student’s assessment was recorded and necessary dental treatments were recommended.
From our results we found that 42% of children aged 6-9 years, and 62% of 10-12 year olds suffered from tooth decay compared to a much lower 16% of 13-18 year olds. These results indicate that dental decay is more prevalent in the younger students, highlighting the importance of regular dental check ups.
